The density of pure water is 1.00. The entire scientific community has based it's standards on that fact. 1000 grams of pure water is a thousand millilitres of pure water is a liter of pure water, which is also a kilogram of water - all of which are Specific Gravity 1.00. They have a Specific Heat of 1.00. Outside of America, the whole world uses the Metric System of measurement which is based around this fundamental fact about water.
