Its our constitutional right. The vast majority of our over 300 million guns do not commit crimes. in fact, the dubious distinction of having the most gun violence goes to Honduras, at 68.43 homicides by firearm per 100,000 people, even though it only has 6.2 firearms per 100 people. Their guns are remarkably active! Other parts of South America and South Africa also rank highly, while the United States is somewhere near the mid-range. Still, America sees far more gun violence than countries in Europe, and Canada, India and Australia, which is perhaps how it gets its bloody reputation among comparatively peaceful nations. When a person kills another in the United States, though, he or she generally uses a gun: 60 percent of U.S. homicides occur using a firearm, which is the 26th-highest rate in the world. (In other gun-permeated countries, such as Finland (45.3 guns per 100 people), only about 19 percent of homicides involve a firearm. So, when guns kill people, they almost always seem to have another person at the other end of the gun; is that person involved in drugs? Is he/she mentally challenged? Did they obtain their gun illegally? The minority of gun violence is one of these last two categories, but the majority is all three.
Hi. Many have good points ahead of me. I will also add, it's not only men, but women. A lot of this stems from fear. Instead of "loving thy neighbor," in a good way, our trust issue with one another has deteriorated to the point: We don't open our doors & help our neighbors, we find them vandalizing our property, torturing our pets, reeking havoc in our neighborhoods, scaring our children, etc. It is a sad state of affairs. Nary a person has respect for each other, or any respect for themselves. The "live and let live," thought has, unfortunately, long gone. On a happier note, happy valentine's day. Try to remember someone you love and smile. Maybe even give them a jingle on the telephone, or drop a note in the mail. Have a great day!
The only people who use guns to hurt others are criminals and the mentally ill. Criminals aren't likely to follow any laws placed on guns, and we need to figure out how to find and help the mentally ill.
I'm not sure of the actual numbers, but I think you would find that a very small percentage of people in the US carry guns. This isn't a movie! I heard somebody say just this morning that only 20% of us actually OWN guns, so a lot fewer actually carry them around.
I don't know the exact stat but very few people actually carry a firearm. Last I heard it was less then 2% of gun owners. We are talking legal gun owners legally carrying. I have a permit to carry but I don't carry a gun. I got the permit because I totally support the law.
We carry firearms because you only need them once in a life time to make carrying every day worth it. Everywhere gun rules are are strict crime goes up and it is easy to see. This is why Chicago is so safe! Gun control only enables criminals.
I carry a firearm to protect my family, myself, and anyone who needs protecting. Also I know many women who carry them because that is the only way for they to protect themselves from bad men who are 2 times their size.

Too much freedom, 2nd amendment for example, and 99.99% of the people use them to harm others on purpose. If I was going to hold a gun, I would only use it for fun, and shoot like targets(Not human targets of course). Also, if I was going to have some self defense weapon, it would be like a tazer, so I don't accidentally kill someone.
