Why do they call a leg cramp a "Charlie Horse"?

Report as

It is believed that the term came from a popular pitcher known as "Old Hoss" who suffered from cramps. You can read more about the origin of the name by visiting http://www.stumblerz.com/why-is-a-leg-cramp-called-a-charlie-horse/.

Hi. Thanks phantom! I've always wondered where that came from and never looked it up. An old cliche' from the "wives knitting circle," I thought! Have a great day and good to see you!
