How does the movement of tectonic plates cause deformation one rock?

Well, tectonic plates are basically giant pieces of rock floating around on the asthenosphere. They break and fuse together as a result of this. I hope that answers your question.

Plates pushing against each other causes them to uplift into mountains.

when the plates move w/ so much force any thig caught in between them is going to be deformed or destroyed
