If obama gets rid of the penny, does that mean everything in the U.S. will end in 5 or 0? is that the dumb or what?

Everything will be rounded to the nearest 5 cent (after taxes) Canada just did this! Did you know that it costs 1.6 cents to make a penny? Fun fact.

Prices would have to be rounded to the nearest five-cent increment, without pennies. Hard to believe that would happen.

Or what. It's not a big deal. You're just as likely to save money as you are to loose it. 0-4 rounds down, 5-9 rounds up. Actually, we'll still have nickels, so it would only be 6-9 rounding up which means that you're actually more likely for it to round DOWN having you SAVE money. So stop complaining lol.

It has cost more to make a penny than its worth for a while. It is long past time to do away with it.

It's not dumb since making a penny is more expensive than the penny itself.

1. The President does not have the power to eliminate the penny.
2. Canada already got rid of their penny. Every transaction is rounded, up or down, to the nearest nickel.
3. Canada is still there. No apocalypse has occured in Canada.
