Can a person learn an accent and use it for the rest of their life?

American accent is boring! I think UK accent is really cool.

Hope the people who know its not your natural accent won't think you sound affected. Just saying.... If I went to the UK and used a British accent, i think my British friends might think I was making fun of them or trying to be silly.

Absolutely! I'm American(never been out of the country, in fact.) and when I was about 3 I saw a movie and a girl had a British accent and I absolutely loved it and I somehow managed to teach myself to speak that way and now I can speak with a British accent whenever I please.

I am English and although I have been
Here 34 years it's still there, an American accent is difficult to replicate

@Edward -I agree because the American accent changes so much according to each state in the union. I can't understand many accents, especially in Louisiana. I've been in Oklahoma for 10 years. I went to Kas Vegas an someone told me my accent was "cute". I said,"What accent?" ha ha.
