If you want to. I am taking AP chem right now and I didn't even take regular chem beforehand lol (most people don't now). Its really hard, but I managed to get an A first semester and I know if I study I will pass the AP exam with a 3 or 4 at best. I read in the Princeton Review Guide that if you get a raw score of 25/75 on the multiple choice (assuming you receive a similar score on the FRQs) you'd probably end up with a 3. That's pretty generous. I think that if I can survive AP chem with no experience whatsoever, you could pretty easily with honors chem. If you're interested in chemistry, go ahead. If not, you could always take up a different science class.
A in chemistry honors is good. Have you taken an AP course? if you havent youll come to realize that the jump from honors to AP is like going from 3rd grade to 12th grade in a day. What I mean is that the growth of difficulty between the two us enormous. The class itself is so hard that a 5 on the ap exam is a 50% completion on it, usually a 69% is a 3! I would suggest taking it especially if you plan to major in a science out of high school! Good luck!
Take it, and any other AP class you qualify for. Colleges accept them for credit which means you'll have to pay less. Example is if you took AP English that would transfer in as your first semester college English class. If you can do it definitely try.
