Is there a way to improve my memory for school?

I think I might be undergoing some kind of depressive disorder, but haven't really been diagnosed yet. I'm seeing a therapist at the moment.
Anyway, so I have always had a memory problem, but now it's getting a lot worse. Like, a lot. Now, as soon as I hear something, I can't remember what he just said. This is greatly affecting my schoolwork, and I can't focus or anything. Plus, I home-school, so I heard that would make it a bit harder. Anyway, I am failing school so badly. I am doing a really fun course on coursera ( and I like, completely failed the first quiz and now I can't remember anything, plus I can't concentrate, so my mind frequently wanders around in circles. It's so annoying.
Anyway, so I was wondering, is there a way to do a bit better in school? I feel really bad that I'm doing this badly in school, and luckily this isn't a test year! I'll try a kind-of regular school next year, but I am going to be a complete failure...

I am a teacher. If you have had problems with this your whole school life, and it got worse since school became harder, please ask your parents to call your counselor and ask to be tested, or ask your parents to call a testing psychologist , to get you tested for any Learning Differences or ADHD. But you have to make sure your parents insist on the ADHD part of the test. This will answer all your questions for you and if you have any Learning Differences. My nephew had the same problem. His mother, my sister, got him educationally tested and he turned out to have a very high intelligence but had Learning Disabilities. Now he has extra help in school and is doing great. Make sure you eat healthy and take NOTHING that will mess up your body and thinking. Good luck!

All you need to do is to practice active recall during learning and make sure that you have periodic reviews of the reading material. You are also required to involve yourself in reading and visualizing in what you have read.
