How does wind sound like?

i know my question is silly, but i really want to know. for example, the sound of heavy rain is "whoosh" or "splash" or "plip - plop.."

depends on how strong the wind is and what it is acting against. Most wind doesn't really make a sound the sound comes from things it encounters such as leaves on trees, buildings etc. But wind makes various sounds.. a light wind may sound like shhhh or the simply the rustle of trees, sometimes wind whistles when it encounters buildings and city streets, Other times strong winds acting against objects sounds like a roar, a freight train or jet (like with tornadoes) In the forest you can hear wind coming as it passes the trees :)
