Is it better to be honest and tell the truth even if someone does like the truth?

im a situation where if i say something wrong i could lose everything.
but i'd rather say the truth than to lie, even if the people doesn't want to hear the truth.
my situation is telling bf that i still love my ex, and its hard to be in a relationship when i love someone else.
yes, the truth hurts.

it might just be better to tell the truth no matter how much it hurts... sure you could lose everything with that person your with now, but if its hurting you and you feel guilty or it just feels wrong then maybe being in a relationship right now isnt the best thing to do. But you should just be honest and tell your boyfriend before it causes more problems you know?

Yep, in the end it's better! Of course, there are certain situations where honesty is not always the best way to go.You need to decide for yourself what the situation calls for.

Being rude and thoughtless isn't someone else's problem.

Its not rude or thoughtless. People should be honest. If your hair looked like crap but you didnt notice, wouldnt you want your friend to tell you about it? You might not like what they are saying but its the truth.

In this case you need to do the right thing, which is also the hard thing, and tell him the truth. It's not fair to either of you to keep stringing him along when your heart is elsewhere. True, it will hurt him now but not as much as it would later on down the line.

I think you should break up if you don't want to be with him, and spare him the pain of your drama, which is not his fault. He just liked you, that's all.

It's better to be honest, you'll probably lose your BF over this but that was gonna happen either way. At least this way you didn't lie to him or cheat on him.

Why are you still in love with your ex? After all, they are your ex for a reason. Whether you broke up because of a big fight, or you just didn't get along, it's my personal opinion that you should leave him in the past. Your current relationship deserves a fighting chance without your ex's involvement. So if you can get over or at least push away thoughts of your ex, and can focus your efforts on your current relationship, I would suggest doing that. But it's not fair to any of you if you can't give your current relationship a chance on its own.

So I would suggest first being honest with yourself. Be realistic about what you want out of your relationship, your feelings for your boyfriend, why you still have feelings for your ex, and if you can't get over him, do you realistically think that there is still a chance with your ex. After you have come to a conclusion yourself, then you can breach the subject with your current boyfriend. Because if you can't be honest with yourself, you can't be honest with him either.
