Is it legal to record video inside a food establishment commenting about the food/menu and nothing about the restaurant itself?

I am a culinarian and I want to make a website that focus on different topics about food and recipes. One of my Idea is to make a website for reference about different food establishment that I have been in and write feedback about their food/menu online and will that be against the law? and also if I Make a video commenting about the food while I am inside the establishment eating is that against the law also?

I dunno it it's legal, but it might be a good way to get beat up. Not everybody wants to be filmed eating, or if you're criticizing the food. Maybe just take it to go and critique it in the safety of your own kitchen.

wonderer206: Hello everyone. The success of this restaurant consists of their low quality foods to keep costs (fart from stall next door)....
Guy: Sorry dude!
Wonderer206: anyway...to keep costs down. Their Food Processing is also signi....(loud bang from stall next door)
Wonderer206: (sigh), is also significant because (mexican music starts to play in the back ground)
Hombre: Bano cleaning duties!

I won't film someone else eating, what I mean't was while I'm eating the food that I ordered I will record it with my camcorder and start giving a comment/feedback as I eat it and analyze what's in the recipe.

Unless you are causing a scene in the middle of the restaurant and they ask you to stop,I don't think so.It's not like you are taping people in the restroom or something like that.

That sux! I would hate to have that issue, but just to be able to say I was there, to be a part of History ... Had I been 10 years younger on 9/11 I would've gone back in and tried out for Combat Controller!

Plenty of hairy moments, thank God for Air support! The Air Force and Navy don't get alot of credit, but they save lives by taking the bad guys out in numbers.

No nothing like taping someone in the restroom, I am only all about the food and not anything else in the restaurant, my plan is to have an online reference for people about the food establishments food/menu based from a culinarian's point of view and not just from someone that didn't like it because of some small reasons. It will be more on how the food is cooked, the cuts of the meat, the sauce being too runny or too consistent, it's more of an educational reference and not just complaining about the food.

i certainly don't think it's illegal, but the owners of the restaraunt may have something to say about it.Only one way to find out.

no, they own all rights to "their" layout format. it's different at different places, but that's it for non-disneylike establishments.

You are free to blog about or review different establishments or products. Just don't make accusations like "The food was horrible I bet they spit in it!" because THAT will get you in trouble. Also when filming, you can be asked to leave, so it would be easier to take stills of the food instead.

Yes, I wouldn't just make an accusation on the food, I will call it as I see it and I am not planning on giving bad feedbacks all the time. This segment of my website that I am planning on starting this year is to be a reference for people about the food establishments around the area that will give them an Idea on how's the food taste like and ingredients that is in it or how it was cooked, It will be an educational reference and not just to bash on some restaurants that I didn't like. I will not be biased about the food establishment that I will go to.
