When buying bottled water, which is best, spring or purified?

Why?

My Aunt had a natural spring right in front of her house......people would always be out there fillin gallon jugs up.....we would also bring jugs with us when we would go visit her so we could bring some home with us.....8)

That would be cool.Even better if it was a spring of beer or vodka.

OMG.....they would have just built a bar around it.....8)

The reason why Spring water tastes better is because they've used charcoal to filter out the chlorine from the tap water, and then labeled it "Spring water" but ye, yer essentially wasting your money.

There's a company in Ohio (I foget the name right now) that takes water from Lake Erie, purifies it and bottles it.....yummy huh? Most of these bottled waters are made in the same fashion, straight from a tap, purified and sold for a CRAZY price increase.....if our water bills for our houses were at the same rates that bottled water sells for then we'd all be BROKE!!

Zephyr Hills because of their bottles (they keep their shape), but tap water chilled will do the same thing! The reason I use bottled water is to travel with my s/f, non-bubble drink mixes.
I think this country is so hung up on "designer" water!

I've taken food safety courses, and thus researched many different areas of food, including bottled water, and you wanna know what I found out? there's literally no difference between bottled water and tap water, only difference is that you're tasting the chlorine in the tap water, whereas they're used charcoal to filter it out for the bottled water. (You can buy charcoal filters for your fridge, makes it taste the exact same as bottled water because it is the exact same). So essentially you're wasting a lot of money, for tap water in a bottle.

There really isn't that much of a difference between bottled water and tap water (although purified water is KIND of nce.) But I guess, you can just use a filter (I have a BRITA filter) and filter ur tap water and it tastes really good. SO DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON GALLON/BOTTLED WATER!

There are WAY too many plastic bottles floating around (literally!) so either get a Brita filter or a Pur filter to attach to your faucet and save our choking...cough...cough...gag...planet!!

NEITHER ---- The only water you, or anyone should drink is distilled water. Check out this web site: http://www.aquariusthewaterbearer.com/ , and learn the truth.

in my opinion purified is better tasting as in it has no flavor plus water is just to wash something down or wake u up (give u energy) but of course its Ur taste that counts just to me purified water is cleaner if u wanted a flavor in ur water then my choice would be flavored water :-)

Neither- Drink Tap Water. It is 500 times cheaper, and is regulated by the government. BOTTLED WATER IS NOT REGULATED AT ALL. Just check out some of these websites: http://www.allaboutwater.org/environment.html , http://ecosalon.com/9-ways-to-ditch-the-bottle-once-and-for-all/ , and http://www.superhealthnation.com/reasons-why-you-shouldnt-drink-bottled-reverse-osmosis-filtered-or-tap-water .

I agree. Get a decent filter for tap water and you're ahead of the curve. Bottled water is a scam. It's merely filtered tap water. The problem with spring water is the purity of the aquifer and its mineral content. Some wells contain arsenic.

I drink Fiji water because it has Silica which has been shown to attach itself to the aluminum that has accumulated in the body. This is important because studies have shown that there is a high aluminum content in the bodies of Alzheimer's patients. The Silica attaches itself to the aluminum and washes it from the body.

I think you shouldn't buy any kind of bottled water because they are all just tap water. They are all just ionized water from the tap. you are just going to waste the plastic and even if you recycle it you will waste the energy they use to change the plastic into something else. Don't waste money, energy, or plastic.

Pretty much any water you buy comes from municipal tap. Look at the label, get whatever is cheapest.

When ask what is better, spring or tap, I answer with an old joke.
Two Frenchmen were talking to each other. One ask "How dumb are Americans?" Now we have bottled water.
1) If you MUST carry water with you, take a refillable stainless steel bottle and fill it up from your tap. You will not get the chemicals that leach from the bottle. The battle still rages (between the bottled water companies and health officials) whether those chemicals may negate any health benefits that you get by not drinking sodas.
2) A whole house filtration system seems to make more sense, but wastes filtered water on the potty. Get a sink mounted filtration system to use for cooking and refilling your takealongs.
3) The stories about some companies taking filtered water from a well (one from a parking lot) and then selling it as spring water are true.
4) A multivitamin W/minerals and a drink of filtered water are an easier and cheaper.
5) Have your tap water tested. most counties do this for free or for a nominal charge. You most likely have the same water, if not better, as bottled water off the store shelf.
Don't fall for so much sales hype. Now think about it.
