Social security disability benefits- how much can i keep in a saving account, if any?

wanting to open a saving account. What is the maximum i can keep in it?

I would not keep more than the FDIC insures which is $250,000. Don't think there are any limitations on how much money you can have if you are disabled...once that it is determined that you are and what you qualify for. Now there are some programs that you forfeit your money in savings and income, but I think that is just assisted living facilities. It is always wise to save money if you can for when times might get hard...

leon is correct. In fact most times a person gets a pretty good sized retroactive check, back to the original date you filed for SSD. SSD sometimes takes a long time to get. You could put that right in the bank no worries.
