I have studied acne some. Serious acne shortens life to an extreme, and 50 years is when a lot of serious acne cases perish. It produces scarification under the skin, and it becomes like a death mask when it has thickened and covers most of the face. So I looked into dissolving the scar tissue. I found that a tumeric-aloe mixture works, but I question whether or not it would work on the face. It also takes a long time. I bet sweating in a sauna helps some, but most saunas are not hot enough. The bottom line is that acne leads to scar tissue in the face, and the face has greater blood flow than any other portion of the integuementary organ. Scar tissue increases in the body in proportion to how much is already there; thus it increases throughout life, and results in death as the internal organs of the body become scarified and disabled.
I found benzoyl peroxide 10% gel to be very effective ($5 at Walgreens and a ton of other stores). It's both antiseptic and an exfoliant that helps dead skin slough off rather that block pores. A zinc supplement may help too, it reduces keratin, the protein that makes the outer layer of skin tough. Finally, DO NOT scrub your face fiercely. Use a velvety wash cloth and was gently.
