Would you prefer a long, explanatory answer to a question or a short, concise answer?

If you were to receive an answer to your question, would you be happier to get one or the other. I would prefer long, which is why you may see me answering with very long answers.

Just saying, that was a fairly short answer

depends on what the question is like if i asked "do you like pie" i'd hope for a sentence not a paragraph if i ask "*insert homework*" id want a paragraph

It just seems like the smaller ones get more stars so I was curious to see what people's opinions were. Glad to see that I have some people on my side. :)

Short and concise, but not short where it doesn't at all answer my question. Long answers typically get off topic from what the person was actually asking for.

Well, people only get off topic sometimes. I prefer long answers because they can fit in details that short answers can't.

On things that truly interest me I like long answers with all kinds of side notes and extra facts... On things that I just need to know I like a short sweet simple answer...

It depends on the question, whether it merits a long answer or a short answer. For explaining something, such as I am about to now, I would prefer a long explanatory one; but for a quick question, just a sentence is enough for me. I hope this is long enough, I can't think of anything else to say to make it longer. Have a nice day!

I like long answers if they are smartly worded. I don't like reading a whole paragraph of "I be not knowin'" kind of language.
