Not much is known about Shakespeare. His father was a glove maker. He started his career as an actor. He was a businessman as well as a playwright, who owned in part his own theater. He paid for a coat-of-arms, I believe. He never meant to publish his works, that was done by others after he died. He retired and left writing shortly before he died.
He was poor and married a really talented, competent woman who was 26 when he was 18. She was pregnant with Susanna. He went to grammar school. He took inspiration for his plays from the world around him and newspapers. The whole world loves his work.
A lot of his plays actually have a lot of sexually jokes in it which comes as a surprise to most people. Like for example, in Romeo and Juliet with in the first scene one of the characters makes a joke about raping someone, and later on juliets nurse makes a joke about how she will have sex soon, along with many other sex jokes. Like I said, that comes as a surprise to most people lol
