My son wont burp after feedings, just falls asleep

My son is about 2 weeks old and when we burp him he falls asleep and doesn't want to wake up. Tonight I had the biggest scare ever. He stopped breathing for a few seconds then started barfing a waterfall. enough to cover both of us and a lot of my couch. I am guessing that is because he doesnt burp often. So my question is does anyone have an idea on what to do? FTM and needs help.

If you keep burping him....even after he falls asleep. He will expel gas from one end or the other. Some babies burp easier than others. Just keep burping him... it is a function he can do as he sleeps.... and will stay asleep.

I suggest contact your pediatric doctor instead of asking ASK.com

I think he is drinking too much from the bottle. Sometimes babies don't need to burp every time they feed. However anytime a baby stops breathing it is best the error on the side of caution and see a Dr.

You should talk to your doctor. He or she can inform you and examine the baby.

I rubbed my childrens back like a infant version of a massage. Works wonders for burping and if they are gassy it can prevent them from getting too fussy. Worked for my kids at least.

My mom taught me to pat their back upwards kinda and then rub circles on their back pressing lightly, but firm kinda, to help work the gas out..worked wit my nieces.
