Why is that..

The world is round right?, and it's moving at this moment.
Why don´t we fall down? I don't know if you get me.
But why don't we fall down to the bottom of the circle? Ugh.
Enlighten me.
And don´t say GRAVITY!

Report as

Because the world is really flat ! It spins and creates gravity which keeps you in balance ! Therefore there is nowhere to fall into !

Lol. Hey, John!

Hi Shaylen ! How is life treating you today ?

It's nice and quite here: just me and my sis are home. Trying to clear my head and motivate myself to get working on my essay... By being on ask.com, lol.

Glad to hear it's nice and peaceful ! Now , that essay isn't going to write itself is it ?

If I will it hard enough with my mind, it will... Lol jk. I guess not!

Hey , give it a shot ! Ya never know !

We can't fall to the bottom because the earth isn't hollow and we aren't inside of it....if that's not what you mean, then it's because of gravity.

Gravity. There, you have been enlightened...(Oh, I said Gravity, REBEL)

Is "Ugh" Something you always say?
Report as

The earth gravity pulling you down.

Report as

Earth isn't a circle, it's a ball; a sphere. Gravity pulls us (and everything else) toward the center of the sphere. We don't fall down because the surface of the planet holds us up. IF a hole opened up under us, we would fall to the bottom of the hole.

E = MC^2
An object in motion tends to stay in motion.
A^2 + B^2 = C^2
For every reaction, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

the last one is the answer

That had nothing to do with the question....

The atmosphere. we are too heavy?

Report as

gravity, sorry ( well not really) but that's the only reason why. dont like it? shouldn't of asked the question.

Could all these questions be the result of the thump to your noodle? Maybe you should see a Dr. "STAT"...

Oh my gosh...

Gravity is just the attraction of one mass's center point of density to another mass's center point of density. The earth is simply a massive object made up of a core (the center), mantle (molten lava) and the crust (dirt, rock, sand). The core is the center and because of how all mass's attract each other it is also the most compressed and dense portion of the earth. Thus the mantle and the crust of the earth are attracted to the core. We live on the crust and we too are attracted to the core. Plus the term up and down is only relative to the center point of mass which is the core. If you are standing at the north poll and your friend is standing at the south poll, basically you both are feet to feet, but if you both look at your feet you are still looking down in relative terms.

Ones position in space is 100% relative and on earth the relative perspective is based off the core of the earth (aka center point of most dense mass).

Thank you very much

You are welcome.

Ok.. how is this: there is no 'up' in the universe, so there is no logical reason why you should fall off the 'bottom' of the earth. The Australians would beg to differ on what is up.
So... if there is no place to fall, even without gravity you're not falling off just like that.
With that in mind you don't need much gravity to sit on this lump in space. Combine that with the fact that all matter is attracted to all other matter, and it all makes sense..
You're just attracted to all that matter close by, which we happen to call earth.

Have you been on one of those rides where you're in a flying saucer and it spins really fast and you get stuck to the wall? Same basic principal.

GRAVlTY!!!

Gravity pulls everything on the earth towards the center. So if there was a hole in the earth you would fall. Now if you are asking why don't you fall to the south pole, then you must understand there is no up or down in space. So unless some large mass were present earths gravity keeps you pressed with the force of your weight to the ground. That is what your weight represents. The total force of the earths gravity on your body. Now if you are saying that because the earth is spinning why dont you fall down, then you have to understand the properties of momentum. Since you are moving at the same rate as the earths surface your momentum keeps you from falling down. A body in motion tends to stay at motion. Now if you are on a hill standing, why dont you fall down? It is because your weight is applied to the points your feet that touch the ground. This creates friction so you can walk up a hill without falling. If you took this friction away you would fall down the hill. If you ever tried to walk up an ice covered road you would see you do fall (slip) down the hill. I hope this helps. I love it that you ask such good questions. Keep up the good work.

It's the orbit keeping us up. If we lose orbit....

Report as

Because the gravity is pulling us to the CENTER of the earth, the "core". Not just down

god created everything so perfect that it just is...the moon has a lot to do with the earth stability it has control of our weather i hope this helps phlorence = ]

"Don't say gravity?" But that's the answer to your question! Our planet's speed matched with the magnetic pull of the core creates gravity which holds us down.

Report as
I thought there'd be another explanation for it.....thanks though.
