Why does shaving make your hair thick?

I'm guessing it's because you cut it from above the roots.

Shaving doesn't make your hair thick. It seems that way because the blade cuts the hair leaving a blunt end which makes it feel thicker.

Are you sure, because that's what everyone says if you shave.

Shaving does make your hair grow back thicker and darker. Maybe not on men, but on women, it does. I shaved my upper lip hair when I was a little girl, 'cause I didn't know any better, plus I was going through puberty; which sucked, 'cause it happened very early, but now my hair grows back thicker (It's not the little hairs that's left over either), and what's worse is that I'm a brunette with tan skin. So, now I have to keep on plucking the hairs off my upper lip, so I don't end up with a Mexican mustache, but plucking does help actually. A lot.

When you shave the opposite way of how you're really supposed to shave your body hair, then it will actually stimulate more of your hair follicles than usual, I guess. Stimulation does help things grow more quickly.

Instead of plucking, you should try this cream and you wait for about 3 minutes then wipe it off. It helps a lot & it works much more better than shaving.

Oh, and thank you for your answer!

I've heard of it, but I never thought that it would actually work since it was on TV. I forget what it was called. What is it called? Oh, and how long does it last, until your hair grows right back?

No problem :)

The cream is called Nair hair Removal, and it takes about a week for your hair to grow back.

Eh, I'll stick to plucking. Thanks anyhow :)

It does not actually make your hair grow back thicker or more black. That's a myth. As you grow older, your hair may get thicker and/or darker, but that is not due to shaving, that's just hormones.
