Buying trailer paid half can they take back trailer if payments are late

Call or talk to the seller. Maybe you can work out an agreement. If you don't call they have every right to assume you're not going to pay and they could start proceedings to take the trailer back. In the long run that's going to cost you even more

Yes they can repossess for any unpaid amount and you lose what you have already paid :(
