why is the wiccan religion against christians/jesus?

a close friend is of the wiccan faith and belittles christianity whenever she can in person and on facebook, etc. seems to enjoy pushing her wiccan faith to hurt and belittle christianity. I ask if she believes in jesus and she says she does. But while on facebook I saw she was only celebrating christmas for the family not because of Jesus.

Perhaps she is tired of the disrespect she has experienced from others.

Wiccan religion isn't exactly against it, some wiccans just have something against it for some reason, but the religion itself isn't suppose to be all antichrist and rude to christians.

For starters the wiccan faith's highest rule or law is to harm none, including yourself. that being said, what with christianity demonizing our gods, taking over our holy days, and punishing followers of the olde earth religions, its not hard to see that she's striking out at what she see's as the enemy. Most likely she has also been personally hurt and or ridiculed for her beliefs by so-called christians ( jesus wasn't about making people feel bad, but his most rabid followers seem to thrive on it) so unfortunately its completely understandable for her to feel this way, but its not acceptable for her to hurt others for their religious choices. hopefully she can rise above the darkness and treat others the way she wishes to be treated. blessed be

You object to her celebrating Christmas in her own way and not yours. Is that what you mean by "pushing her Wiccan faith to hurt and belittle Christianity; that she is open about what she believes or how she celebrates it?
I don't follow Christianity, nor Judaism, and I celebrate what holidays I please in what way I please, and I do so openly. No one who knows me considers me disrespectful of their faith, or any other faith.
If, on the other hand, she actually is belittling Christianity and pushing her own faith, while I don't agree with such behavior, it is exactly the way many Christians and branches of Christianity treat other religions. If she is hurting your feelings, actively doing so, then perhaps you should change friends. If she is only being openly different from your religion, where is the harm in that?

There are "good" and "bad" Wiccans just as there are good and bad Christians. She probably feels anger hurt and bitterness from the way she has been treated. However it wrong of you to say Wicca is against Christians.. Wiccans are not, She is. There is a huge difference. Most of us just want to be left in peace and be allowed to celebrate our religion in our own way, and to not have to hide what we are without being accused of being "devil worshipers" and that our religion is "evil" (which it isn't)

So many of you answered my question in a very caring way. Not judging as I did see in a couple Christians that really see things in black and white---or shall I say that the way they interpret the bible they believe they completely right and that wiccan is evil. I definately do see that many Christians do take bits and pieces out of the bible to put down others. With the answers I received from the wiccans I did see they love all as Christ did. And I will ask her if she has had some cruel treatment from Christians who are the only people that seem to read and interpret the bible correctly?

So glad we could be of help. It is easy to judge others and it does happen on both sides but the Goddess teaches us love and tolerance of all people regardless of their religion, race, sexual orientation etc. Every thing in the universe has it place and every path is valid to it's own ends, it is what you do on that path that makes the difference :) It is hard sometimes to not be bitter with all the negative things we see the more "ardent" Christians say about us and our faith and the lies they continue to try to perpetuate. It is also hard not to feel resentment when some Christians try to claim sole ownership of holidays... regardless of where traditions come from or "who was there first" everyone should be able to celebrate the Light and Life in the way that speaks to them most and the interpretation that has the most meaning to them :)

Don't make a presumption that all differing views are oppositional views. There's a distinction between expressing someone's own beliefs and challenging or defiling someone else's.

Its witch craft and witch craft is displeasing to God. Im sure she knows God and Christianity disapprove and her reaction is to mock and belittle those who dont agree with her life choices. Its a very common defensive reaction.

Agreed- like how Christianity has spent most of it's history mocking, belittling, and persecuting other religions.

Everything about Wicca witchcraft goes contrary to the Bible. There is no way to deal with your sins in Wicca. Where does Wicca address the fact that we are sinners in need of forgiveness? Nowhere! Wicca is a false religion, damning the souls of it's followers to Hell. Wiccans can accuse Christians of being ignorant concerning their beliefs, but it is simply not true. I realize that Wiccans don't believe in Satan; but Christians certainly DO because the Bible says there is a Devil. It is NOT about Christians being the enemies of Wicca; it is about the Bible, the Word of God, being the enemy of Wicca

Maybe because other religions don't have the concept of sin in the first place- they are not obsessed with believing humans are horrible just for being human.

What a way to try to take any personal responsibility away from your behavior.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says, "Let no one be found among you who... practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells...Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD..." Wicca witchcraft is a sin, and God hates it. Why? Because it is an attempt to cut off our dependence on God and get answers apart from Him.
Sin isn't just a heinous, socially disagreeable action. Sin is our decision to disagree with God on any topic-to rebel against Him. Sin is saying, "God, I want to live my life
my way."
To say she believes in Jesus, the Bible says this."You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder."James 2:19
There must be more than just talk.

Not all Wiccans have a problem with Christians. Of course, most Christians are very nosey and by nosey I mean they try to convert people. Typically, a lot of Christians start arguments and they don't care about another person's beliefs or lack of beliefs. This isn't true for EVERY Christian, just a lot of them. I know a friend who's a Wiccan and she has lots of problems with Christians. She has barely any with Muslims, or any other religion. Christianity is the only one. Not all wiccans have this problem, though.

Christians have spent pretty much their entire history persecuting pagans- perhaps your friend has had some bad run-ins with Christians.

Wicca in general doesn't care about your religion at all- they are nature based and have their own gods. If your friend is Wiccan of course she wouldn't believe "Jesus" is divine in any way.

*points above at the few people making nasty comments about her religion and trying to sugarcoat it with commentary about "sin" and "Jesus doesn't approve* Does that answer your question? Nobody has a problem with Jesus, but Jesus' fan club has a bit of an attitude problem. Either we're Satan worshipers or lost little lambs in need of rescuing from our faith. It gets tiresome.
