Can i do my taxes twice?

I want to do my taxes on my own because it cost 80 dollars in CA to havethem done by a "professional", but i'm scared i"ll screw it up and not get all of my money back. So if I do them and screw it up can I have a pro re-do them or is it a one shot and your done kind of thing? I dont understand taxes at all if you didn't pick that up already:)

If you are only doing a 1040ez or 1040a you can do them yourself quite easily. The IRS walks you through it. Beyond that I agree with turbo tax or taxact. I believe taxact is $10

I had heard of taxact also. They were advertising it here (alabama) for free for a "standard" form. I don't know if it was just here or everywhere.

Most places will do 1040ez for free, cause they are truly simple. You can also check the IRS website, for those making under $54000.00(?) I think. Taxact or turbo tax will do your online taxes for free

I would use something like Turbo tax online. It is fairly cheap. I think it is something like 29,95 for a standard tax, and it walks you through step by step, and it even checks for errors FOR you. It won't let you completely file unless all mistakes are corrected, and they are pretty good about getting you all of the deductions you are eligible for. If you do them yourself via the paper form, and send it in with mistakes you would hold up your refund for a very long time. Then, you would have to file an "amended" tax form. If you attempt to submit two tax forms at the same time, you will delay your taxes as well. Turbo tax also efiles, which gets you your money much quicker, via direct deposit, or with a turbo tax card they send you. I have used them for years and have never had a problem.

I use Taxslayer and I have NEVER payed for my taxes to be done by someone else. Doing it online is cheaper and the program walks you through the whole process. Unless you have a multi-million dollar business, there is no reason why you shouldn't do it yourself, unless of course you are just lazy.
