Why did it take Eli 30 years to walk to California in the movie "The Book of Eli"

it only takes 131 days to walk from main to California, in the movie he said he was walking west for 30 years?

He did not walk each and every day and he did not walk in a straight line. He met up with obstacles along the way that tried to stop him. He had to search for food and water along the way, etc. Watch the movie again. You will see that he was not simply able to walk a straight line down the highways to get to Cali.

You also need to remember this is a movie and not real life.

1. HE WAS BLIND!
2. Besides that, civilization had pretty much collapsed. So, he probably had a bit tougher time walking than you or I would have today.
3. Why hurry? The movie has his name in the title, so I'm pretty sure the plot will wait for him to get there.
4. "Maine", not "main."

Hi WP-I want to thank you for how you corrected the spelling. You didn't make fun of them, and you put it last . Because of this, the person will learn something and not feel made fun of.

In Massachusetts we call people from Maine "Mainiacs".
Apparently we're not a terribly original lot when it comes to putdowns.
