Make observations and abstract is the same, for a science fair project?

I try to help my son for a science fair project,( desalinate water) but iI feel inexpert in this topic.

Making abstracts and observations are not the same in a science fair project. An abstract is designed as an advertisement, which is the summary of a project. Observations on the other hand include asking questions, observing the results given, and testing the hypothesis using experiments.
