Balance has nothing to do with a smooth ride. Anyone who tells you this doesn't know what they are talking about. A smooth ride is about ground surface and wheel circumference. Wheels that have a smaller circumference will make you feel every imperfection in the ground you are riding upon. Wheels that have a larger circumference will give a smoother ride on a rough surface than those tiny skateboard wheels which are popular on trick boards. On my street board for example I got the largest wheels I could find. The larger wheels are also good for dealing with roads that have pebbles on them. WIth large wheels you will have a better chance to roll over the pebble and keep going, instead of having the board stop abruptly on a pebble leaving you flying forward into a wipe out. It sounds like you need bigger wheels. Good luck.

Bigger wheels.or loosen the trucks up a bit.

Loosening up the truck will make the board turn sharper but can cause speed wobble if they are too loose. But you are right about the wheels. Bigger wheels will smooth out the ride.

It's a balance between the 2,i skated a bit in my teen years.

I've been skating for 15 years and still skate. The steering has no bearing on the smootheness.

But you don't have to take my word for it. If you still have a board, ride on the same surface in a straight line at varrying truck tightnesses. And feel how the wheels roll on the surface. Steering will be affected but not how the wheels roll on the surface.

I believe you, thats why I know wheel size is a definite. I just wonder how rough the road is,and if the trucks are too tight.
