What are the qualifications for Chinese teachers?

Besides knowing Chinese, of course, what are the qualifications for being a high school Chinese teacher? I am not native, but I am pretty much in love with the language and culture of China. I am in my second year of Chinese and I am interested in teaching Chinese in Utah as a career.

Well, you have to perfect the English language, as well. And knowing the ins and outs of both. Also the translations and how to explain non-existing words in each language and words that are not the same with the meaning. That's probably it other than a college diploma. Also, knowing Simplified and Traditional Mandarin, Cantonese, and Pinyin.

My teacher only knows simplified mandarin and pinyin, but he does know the translations and the non-existent words, he's got perfect english... do you really need to know Cantonese and Traditional?

It depends how advanced you want your teachings to be. You probably don't *have* to, but it might help.

My sister went to teach in China for about 3 months and she didn't know Chinese but the school funded for lessons, you just need a degree and some experience:)
