If everyone on the entire planet were to meet at the same place and all jump at the same time could that knock the Earth out of orbit?

I would have thought 7 billion people would make more of an impact.
Report as
Well imagine it like this. Even with 7 billion people, we'd still be no more than a mosquito compared to the earth. In fact, even less than that. With that being said, if an average sized mosquito started jumping on your head, would it make an impact on you? Probably not. Unless if whatever it drank blood with was poking into your skull every time and coming out.

Good analogy I'm glad I got specific answer and why, I was going to ask my astronomy teacher but thought it sounded kind of dumb. Thanks again!
Report as
It's good. I'm sure it would've at least been a good question, though. I mean, at least it would have provided some sort of application. You should still ask her, though. It's not a dumb question.

Yeah I probably should, it might be nice to brake the monotony of talking for 3 hours and everyone else's only questions being "will that be on the test?" or when reading notes "What's that word say?"

There'd be a big hole in the world and everyone would fall in it. Everyone would be clambering over each other in an attempt to get out, potentially killing half of the earth's population, with the other half being caught in the throng of the dead...let's do it.

In my head I just took every person on earth, turned them into a giant blanket and hit them all against earth at about 10mph (my guess at how fast the fall of the jump would be). It did nothing!

No two things can occupy the same space at one time, so it would be impossible for the entire Earth's population to be in one place, an even if you lined everybody up, it would most likely circle the world.
