How many hours must you work before you can take an half of an hour break?

if you are an 6 hour a day employee, How many hours must you work before you are allowed an 30 minute break?

In NY. You're allowed a 15 min break for every 4 hours worked. If you only work 6 hours total, a 30 min break wouldn't apply.

In relation to the employment standards' hours of work and break schedule, employees are entitled for half hour break after working for five hours. Even the 6-hour-a-day employee should have the half an hour break after working for five hours.

Most states are 15 min break after 2 hours work. Example: start at 8 am, 15 min break @ 10. Then 30 min lunch break at 12 noon. Another 15 min break at 2pm. Get off @ 4:30 pm.
