My dog (2 years old) absolutely loves to chew on strictly worn female underwater/panties. I tried everything to stop her.

I used peppers, squirt bottles, lots of yelling an punishment. yet she goes after these things like its cat nip and I have no clue how she developed this behavior, she also goes for tampons and pads with blood on them as well. she doesn't chew on things like cords or shoes or anything else. She used too but I stopped her doing that. She's went through so many pairs of my gf's, sister, mom's underwear's. I'm not sure what else to try. used google a lot to find ways to discipline her. but so far. to no avail. Also Everytime she does something bad and I look at her or I come close. she instantly goes on her back, paws at the air and wags her tail.

I guess the best thing to do is keep those things out of her reach so she can't get to them.

It's easy. Just keep all undies out of her grasp. You need some kind of hamper she can't get too, and a covered trash bin too.

Find her something else to chew. Or you (or the underwear owners) could put the underwear out of reach.

she is just going through a phase and you have to let her my dog did the same thing, he even would crawl under the bed and eat his teeth it was a hinderance but after a while he stopped.

Actually, it's not a phase. She will do it as long as she has access to those items. It's the owners responsibility to make them unavailable.

She actually loves hot sauce and chilli. She loves spicy foods. You can blame my mom for that.

Im officially not taking this question seriously....

My family is Korean. So my mom fed her spicy foods when he was growing up. And so my dog eats things like Kimchi and other spicy foods. She doesn't do that anymore. But she built a tolerance level for spicy stuff. I tried using cayenne pepper (which she never eaten before) and she still went after it).

mabie have it outside more.....

We live in Alaska, so there's 3 feet snow outside. And she's a little Chihuahua Poodle mix.

I don't think we can keep her outside lol!

But thanks for trying to help though = )

I would get trash cans and laundry baskets tall enough so you dog can't get into it. Does your dog like ropes to chew on, or stuffed animals? Those could be great toys.

She only likes bones to chew on. Her brother loves stuffed animals though. And we have large baskets and cans. She's smart enough to position it and knock it over by using the walls or her surroundings to accomplish this task.
Report as
Hmm. The only solution to that would be to move the dirty clothes behind a closed door. Good luck : ) Maybe get a strong rag and pour juice on it they might chew on that.

Then your going to have to put the laundry behind a closed door... I don't know what toys your dog would like...

My dog does that too. She takes it in her cage and will growl and bit if we try to take it back. We get the underwear when shes not in it. Maybe you should just close all of the doors that have dirty clothes in it and not let the dog in. Make sure the clothes are in some kind of basket they cant get into so that if they do go in the room, they can't get it.

I do that when I'm home. But sadly my family is quite forgetful. I've posted stickies to remind them. I swear I might just start spraying my cologne on my family's stuff. That's the only thing I haven't tried.

How about using a hamper in a closed room.

My dog used to do the same thing but I trained her not to and started putting my dirty clothes in my closet instead of the bathroom.

It's as easy as keeping them out of her reach. When we weren't home, my pit bull would go into every bathroom, grab the toilet paper and run down the hallway with it until it was all off the roll. We now keep it out of her reach.

I can explain to you how to fix this beahvior....but first you have to understand it will not be easy, and if you aren't willing to correct your dog EVERY time it does wrong....I mean to the point of an anally retentive nit-picker, then it will be a waste of time. It is not just what you do, but how you do it. I have trained many dogs over the years and the hardest to train are the owners because most think once a dog is ' trained ' then it will mind you every time you give a command......a dog doesn't think like that. Sounds like it might be alittle anxiety involved too.....how often is the dog exercised and for how long....does it have a routine everyday.....which person is the ' pack leader ' to the dog.....you don't say what breed....and two year olds are still puppies at heart so give dog things it can chew....had one dog loved old shoes...once I taught him which were ' his ' and which were not.....so many questions before I can tell you what to try....but it can be done.

The dog is a Chihuahua Poodle. I'm the Pack Leader.

She lives at my GF's house though, as we can't keep her at my house due to the landlord (We would have to pay a 3,000 deposit to have her live with us officially).

The dog is exercised daily. She's taken out at 8AM everyday to go pee, and then we take her on a run at 2-4PM for 2-3 hours outside.

She absolutely loves to chew on small bones (Ones we buy at Pet Co). Nothing else except which I mentioned in my post.

Please ask anymore questions you have = )

Okay....so already I see part of the problem.....not having the dog with you....I understand why, but the dog doesn't.....it is probably confused/nervous by the living arrangements and is acting out in a way to get attention.....good or bad doesn't matter, it's the attention that counts. Has the dog had any professional obedience training ? A good trainer can fix this faster than I can write it here.....be that as it may.....I can try to help, but understand I am trying to do this ' blind ' so I can't promise it will work.
Report as
Nope, no professional training at all.
Report as
The first thing you need to do is teach your dog basic obedience.....sit, stay, down, come, heel, good dog, and bad dog. And I would never use food/treats to teach a dog anything...use affection.....it always available. It matters who feeds the dog....the tone of your voice when you command the dog.....and one of the most important things, the dog knows you are going to make it mind EVERY time and will punish it. To a dog, withholding affection is punishment.....no good dog, petting, scratching, touching or looking at it.....and when it does good you do one or all those things. Look at some of the videos on training dogs on YouTube.....seeing it in action is easier than me trying to explain every little thing you need to know and will probably have one or more for your specific problems.....first thing first tho....you have to learn, and teach, basic obedience if you want any hope of controlling your dog.
