What can cause temporary blindness in one eye?

The other day while I was walking my dog I lost complete vision in my left eye. And I'm sure that I didn't get anything in it. My vision came back after an hour, but now my left eyes vision is darker than my right eyes. I've never had this happen to me and I've never known anybody that has had that happen to them. I have an eye mutation, but it has never given me trouble before, so I don't think it's that. What do you think could have caused temporary blindness in my eye? P.S. I'm going to the eye doctor soon. I just want to know what could be the problem, beforehand.

There are a number of factors that could cause temporary blindness and these include retinal migraine, which is accompanied by nausea and other visual disturbances. It could also be due to basilar artery migraine or conversion disorder. It would be good that you visit a doctor for check up. It happened to me, and it turned out to be a TIA, which is a mini-stroke. You need to treat this as an emergency. Please don't wait for your next eye doctor appt. Go to the emergency room NOW. Please don't hesitate. Good luck.
