Well... Stay outta traffic, put on sun screen, make sure to get lots of vitamin C and you should be just fine... From my experience most
Australians are quite friendly... Probably safer there then in New York...

Most people are safe in Australia- we are not particularly known for racist bashings/murders. There is obviously words that may be said (just like most countries- I assume?), but if you can learn to deal with pot-stirrers without escalating the situation, then there shouldn't be too much hassle for you. Obviously racists words/actions are not your fault, but just some Australians are quite uneducated on world issues, and just don't seem to realize how their back-handed comments can affect people. Especially when migrants are coming here to involve themselves in the riches we have plenty of in this country- that most people here don't even appreciate, or realize. Bigger cities I think have more of these racist people, but I think you could encounter them anywhere really. People from smaller cities are generally more easy to get along with though.

Melbourne and Sydney are the biggest cities in Australia- that's why I mentioned the bigger cities. But on the whole, they are not in terrible danger being here. I have friends there also, from India, Sri Lanka and a couple people from various Middle-Eastern countries, and they all still say that they prefer the Australian lifestyle, and the racism they encounter is still not enough to make them reconsider having moved here. They still prefer it here.

I live in Cairns, and there are not large numbers of middle-eastern immigrants here, nothing like in Sydney, but the migrants we do have here are generally well accepted becuase it is interesting to have people from other cultures here. I personally love talking with migrants, to find out more about their home country, and why they chose Cairns of all places, to settle down. I can't recall having ever heard of racist violence here in Cairns, but down south, yes.

Look up the Cronulla riots. Pretty scary stuff, and probably something worth having a read of before you come over- as most people around here still haven't forgotten. I think the locals here made their stance quite known on the cultural assimilation expectations we have here as a nation, on the whole. It's settled down a lot since then, but ofcourse, there are still people who feel the need to be angry at the world. These are the people though, who don't have much understanding on things that are going on in countries overseas where they are alot worse off, and usually, these people don't even WANT to know. There is nothing really we can do to force these people to open their eyes, and shut their mouths. But as far as we go in comparison to other countries, I think Israelis and other immigrants are really quite safe here.
Like I said, you will need to learn how to deal with situations so they diffuse quickly- becuase there are idiots. But you life will likely never be endangered.

So if you were meaning 'safe' as in, being concerned about getting bashed or murdered, then yes, I believe you will be quite safe here. Smaller cities= better. Bigger cities= racist words. Thats about as simply as I can put it.

yes. Absolutely. I would be lying if I say there isn't racism within India. Its a curse. Small cities are not used to outsiders. Hence they are cool .People from the cities are not so good. It is the same everywhere.

Almost any country you go to will be kind to Israelis. Honestly, if you don't tell anyone, they won't recognize you accent.
