Who else agrees that these new guidelines on ask are going way too far?

I asked a question about my prescriptions and it was deleted.

It did go to far...from my understanding it was suppose to be ridiculous unimportant questions that get removed. Like the ridiculous Bieber, 1D and "What's your fave color?" ones. Somehow they REALLY screwed up on this one!

Seems like it. Although the preggers questions seem fewer.

What's odd...there is a category about Ask! Then they delete these questions...how pathetic!
Report as
Yes, I agree. I might deal with these new guidelines for a little longer, but if it continues for a few months...I might "retire"" from Ask.

helixaqua
Me too...I'm already looking at other sites but most have bad reviews.
Report as
The new guidlines are weeding out people who are on here only to play games. They seem to be the first ones to jump ship. Basically because they are being told they have to act civilized and no name calling. I again say, give it 4 weeks and let everything settle in. Then you can start petitioning for change.
Report as
helixaqua
I can agree with that.
Report as
144... I've been on here quite a bit and don't recall a lot of uncivilized name calling, just the site being flooded with a lot of childish nonsense.
Report as
helixaqua
The childish nonsense needs to go...but they are still deleting great questions.
Report as
Give it a few weeks. They are on new ground also.

Please mods.. Just split us. Let the kids have their own ask, and the adults have theirs. PROBLEM SOLVED!

The mods need time to figure out the balance. Especially since one personal interpretation is different from another. You have to give them at least 4 weeks to get used to them. We also need to get used to them.

You are what I call a peacemaker. You must be a really mellow type of person, wich is cool in my book. Just that these mods are really jumping the gun on alot of questions. What, do we have third grader mods? Well.. Im going to let this rant go as I am grown. Do As you will mods Im sure you arent gaining any fans. Just that most of these people dont have the guts to speak their own real opinions.

Tryin2StaySane, questions like the one you asked need to be asked of a health care professional that also knows what other drugs you may be taking or conditions you have. If you can not afford to ask your doctor, your local pharmacist will be happy to help you with any drug related questions and they will do so for free. This type of question is not one that most of our users can answer so it was removed

Thank you! Unbelievable what some will rely on the info from strangers about!..... "can I give my baby....?" My heart goes in my throat on those!
Report as
Sherry. I think people that Could answer some of these questions got chased off, or annoyed with this site. I had a pharmacist friend that left because of the nonsense questions that seem to remain after every guideline update.

New, anyone can say they are a pharmacist or doctor. "sure, go ahead and double the dose" I mean come on.... Ask is making them do what intelligent people should be doing in the first place, call a professional.
Report as
I'm saying my actual friend. Not a random person on here, was a pharmacist. I had another that was a nurse. They got annoyed with this site. I'm not saying that a medical question on here should be treated by an answer given, but helpful advice was what I thought this site was all about.
Report as
Nobody else on the site can know that your actual friend is an actual pharmacist.

Maybe you new then to be but my point is it doesn't stop anyone from the same claim, and gullible people believing it. Irregardless, it's very dangerous.

Im only looking for opinions. I have enough common sense and intellegence to know when someone knows what they are talking about. Of course I will ask my doc, but its hard when I have a family and so much going on to actually make time to see him. Especially cause hes a busy guy too. When I ask a question its to see everyones point of view. Not to actually take everyones word for the truth. Seriously... My question being removed to protect me from advise?? Lmbo!!!

I'm glad people are being made to start asking the right people on medical questions, their doctor or pharmacist.

No, many have asked how much of a certain med should they give their kid. Should they increase the dose of a med. Many people do not understand. It's very dangerous.

I don't see any problem, with the possible exception of those who complain about it.

Exactly... Im tired of whiney people. Look a question is a question. I say let the 13 year olds up to 18 have their own ask. While 21 and up has theirs. What do you think?

Kids already have a site

I could be mistaken, but isn't it illegal and goes against medical ethics to dispense medical advice online by anyone claiming to be a medical professional?
~
Besides that, this site is for 13 and older. Do you really think it is safe to take ANY medical advice from strangers that could be a 13 yo? No one knows for certain how old anyone is on this site. No one knows for certain that anyone is who or what they claim to be. Yesterday I caught a girl who was silly enough to put her age into her question....she was 11......How many underage users are on here but have yet to make the mistake of putting their age? The point is, medical advice of any kind should never be given through a public forum online. That is what your doctor and pharmacist are for.
~
As for the guideline changes....they are great. I have not seen a single "Am I pregnant?" or "Does Justin Bieber like me?" since they went into effect.
~
As for another problem (post the Q in the wrong category), you just need to report it as "community standards" and the mods should catch it and refile it in the correct category. It is pretty annoying to have Qs show up that you think you have filtered out.

I agree. I was staying away from ask.com because of the stupidity and immaturity of some questions. I think the changes will be good.

It really is okay of you want to think that....I gave you the link you wanted and read your comments like you wanted. This is a 13 and older site. If you want a kids site I gave you the link. You do not have to be happy about it but you also do not be to be rude.
Report as
Actually I've got no anger at all toward you. Why do you keep bringing up "butting heads" and "spar in the ring"? Are you looking to fight with someone? I am sure your local YMCA has plenty of folks that would do it for you. Or if you are "grown", then go to your local bar.

I have absolutely no anger toward you or anyone else on this site. I have not been rude, you just do not like what I have said. You do not have to. That is okay.

What about all the . Question's can't they ask there Mama's and all the am I pregnant? How old is that. Take those two questions off with the new guidelines would be great. Just set up ask in to two groups one for kiddies & one for adults

One of the things I dislike the most about their rules is you cannot tell people the painful truth or be brutally honest. Some people need to hear these things but everyone is so sensitive nowadays it's sickening.

I told this kid to do his own homework, in a tackful way, that doing it here he wasn't learning anything, and my post was deleted! Looks like a Mod was condoning cheating. smh. And we wonder why kids don't know anything. Their lack of proper use of grammar speaks volumes.

Report as
Yes that's what I was getting at
Report as
I think alot more stupid questions have continued. Really? Who goes pn here to get a REAL answer??? Would you really trust a stranger to give you real advice without using your own common sense? I mean go to your own cities downtown and ask a group of people for directions to the freeway. You will get so many answers and most if them will be false. Most people dont know their anus from a hole in the ground. It is amusing, however, to listen to what people have to say and get a good laugh out of it.
