Is my dog going to feel abandoned?

I had a dog for over a year now, got him when he was born. He literally went everywhere with me. He always followed me around the house and always just wanted to be around me all the time. I found out he had something wrong with him and when i took him to the vet they said that it obviously is treatable but it is a lot of money. when i found out how much it was i then realized there was no way i could afford it. my mothers friend at work wanted him and said she could take care of him so i let her have him. My question is, is he going to feel like i abandoned him? is he going to be sad? because he was pretty much my whole world it took a lot for me to willingly give him up. in my mind it was the right thing to do but my heart is telling me he will feel abandoned.

I'm so sorry. I know this hurts. I'm glad you take comfort in knowing you did the right thing. He'll probably miss you. But if this lady is loving enough to care for him despite the expense, rest assured he's in good hands. Even if he misses you for awhile, he will be loved and able to adjust.
I'm sorry. :(

He'll be sad for about two weeks or so. It takes them some time to adjust to a new owner. After that, he'll be happy again. I've had lots of pre-owned dogs, so I know that you don't have to worry, he'll be ok.

Aw, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine being in your situation. You did the right thing. I think he's sad and I know he can't understand. Maybe you can set up a plan to visit him. :o

He may miss you for awhile but the cool thing about animals is that their memories are fairly short. He'll soon love his new family and he may remember you if you ever see him again, but dont be surprised if he sticks close to his new family. Animals dont hang onto memories the way humans often do and pine for years. He'll be okay in a few weeks, esp with a new family to love.
