Tutankhamen was a New Kingdom Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty (14th century BCE). His name means the living image of Amon. Originally he was called after Aten, but had his name changed as part of his departure from the Aten worship back to the old ways. His tomb was left unrobbed, and was excavated by Howard Carter in 1922. Tutankhamen became Pharaoh at the age of 9, and ruled close to 10 years. he died at 19. Some have suggested he was assassinated, possibly by Aten priests. Others suggested a disease.
