Hq means high quality, hd means high definition; Hq was used before Hd was invented.

HQ= High Quality
HD= High Definition

You need an HD display of some sort to really see the difference between HQ and HD. HQ is higher quality, with less compression. This means crisper visuals, and overall better sound quality. The other added benefit is you can view them larger with less picture strain. As far as HD, if you don't have an HD display, it will look just like HQ. The sound will be a better quality over HQ though.
