Why is the love of our country called patriotism instead of matriotism?

We tend to call inanimate objects "she" often, so why don't we assume our country to be feminine? Does it have something to do with mother england during the revolution?

Yet we do refer to it as "Lady Liberty" and America as the "motherland". Fellow country"men" is merely speaking of humankind. Oh, gee, my bad! HuMANkind isn't very feminine friendly now is it?? Boo hoo considering woman was created from man after man yet it was then that God called His creation GOOD!

Because at the time which people first used it rich white landowning men were the ones in power making them the patriarchs they embodied the country at the time making everyone else who supported them patriots
