My wife found an expired check from escrow company. It is a refund from the house that was purchase in 2008. How can we cash it?

Is it still possible to obtain the funds since it was a refund for an overpayment in our behalf?

You might be able to. Look if there's a, "Cash By" date.

No. Checks are considered invalid after 6 months. You might be able to get the original company to reissue a check. I wouldn't hold my breath though. If they don't the only thing you would have lost was a phone call to find out.

It would be expired at this point. I would contact the escrow company that issued it and see if they can re-issue another one if you return the expired one.

Take the check to the bank and deposit it. Can't hurt to try and see what happens.

Contact the company that wrote the check.

Check with the original issuer of the check, you should be able to get a reissue, if they are a good company. That's your money, not theirs.
