This is a child. Don't gamble with proper healthcare. you could be investigated by social services to determine if you are a fit parent.

I don't know about the egg white method, but you could try a cool bath. Use caution, however because a high fever in a child can lead to seizures. Tylenol is better than seizures. Are there any other symptoms of infection or illness which would require antibiotics such as sore throat, cough, diarrhea, or head ache?

Sleep. A lot. put a wet cloth on their head, give them soup (just a little less hot) and dont allow them to do anything that requires energy (like walking up stairs. They are seven... carry them)

Just let the child rest... That's as simple as it gets, a moist cloth on their for head, and let him/her sleep a bit. Hope they feel better soon!

It depends on how high the fever is. A little Tylenol goes a long way in making a child not only more comfortable, but safe.

This is why I am a big believer in education. The level of ignorance in the question and in some of the answers (not all) is astounding. A fever is caused by the body reacting to a virus or bacteria. High temperature "cooks" the offender, white cells do the rest. Once the white cells have the upper hand, the body temperature will normalize. The problem occurs above 104 Deg F. At 106 or 110 brain damage occurs. For this reason, acetaminophen is recommended. Wetting the head area is also effective since the blood vessels in the head region do not constrict, thus a quick brain cooling. It is temporary. So are the drugs. They ARE NOT a cure, they only alleviate the symptoms. If the temperature goes above 104 and cannot be controlled via medicine then you MUST rush to the hospital to avoid brain damage As to the fever going to the feet. That has got to be the dumbest theory I have ever heard. It implies that the bacteria / virus have moved to the feet exclusively which doesn't even make sense. As to a cold bath, this is to be used in a dire emergency where you do not have access to a hospital and you need to bring down the fever to prevent brain damage.
