Can plants grow in potting soil mixed with top soil?

2 different soil mixed together?

Report as

Yes plants can grow in a potting soil mixed with top soil, but your plant will probably be exposed to bugs, common plant diseases or weeds.

I tried growing some flowers during the summer/fall...not that successful. Out of maybe four or five types..only one actually grew...and it was not one of my favorites (it was a free pack that came with the one I paid for...not ugly..just not a favorite.) :( Ah well, maybe next year. :)

Awww, Tofu. Were they all planted from seeds? That could be the main prob right there.
Yes, I hope this year. :)
Still not finding any decent questions?

I just got notice that you commented on the inter_ourse question, but when I went to check, well, that question's gone! :)

Yes, they were seeds that I bought. I haven't looked at the questions lately...maybe later. And yes, I got zapped...should have listened to myself earlier and stayed away from there. :( But, yes I still have the seeds...will they be okay to use next year? I planted them in a big pot...not in the ground. I'm not an expert with the flower planting stuff...just wanted some of the gorgeous looking flowers they were supposed to become. :) I will check back later. :)

Was your comment on that question worth repeating, to you?
I don't think seeds are the best way to go, albeit the cheapest. Yes, the seeds should be okay. There will probably be an expiration date on the packet, just to be sure. I'm far from an expert, myself. Have a good night, if I don't see you. :) Well, have one regardless. = )

I will probably try planting them again next year then. All I asked was if you saw my comment from earlier (right above that one)...and called you a flirty bird. :) The flowers that I got (can't remember the names of them right now) are so pretty looking that I just wanted to see them in real life. Ah well, I guess I will just find out next year if they will actually grow or not. Night to you too. :)

Sure as long as the "topsoil" is not clay.

All 'Potting Soils' used to be mixtures of loam, peat, sand and compost. As Potting Soils have changed, they have become better at water and nutrient retention as well as minimising compaction. Some added topsoil will have an effect, but probably not marked. You may, however, introduce weed seeds or soil borne insects / disease so keep an eye on the plant.
