At one time, I got a cold sore about every 2 weeks, and kept putting Carmex on them to make them leave. I finally went to a doctor. He said it's a virus, also part of my blood system. He gave me a prescription for some pills. After finishing them, I haven't had a cold sore since. That was last year. Good luck

You are triggering the virus somehow. Only you know what you are doing. Maybe going out in the cold and letting your lips get chapped, or staying up late often. One thing that really helps is to keep you lips moisturized. Also, keep some vaporub on hand and use it when you first feel that tingling. It can really help.

Could be a couple of reasons. One would be a weakened immune system. Bump up your zinc and vitamin b. The other reason could be diet. I have a friend who would get them when she ate high acid foods

Besides having the herpes simplex virus, watch your acid intake i.e, orange juice. Sun and stress can also produce cold sores. Abreba is a great OTC medication however, I agree you should get a prescription for the pills since you are getting them so often.

Stress was a huge factor for me. Every time my ex would summon me to court or continue raising trouble, boom! Cold sore, lol! The people here are right- whatever works. They now have better medications for this virus, and I recommend upping your Vitamin B complex, which helps. Sun exposure, stress, oncoming cold....this can trigger cold sores. Take a daily vitamin with good B complexes.
