What would happen if gazing animals in the tundra became overpopulated?

Nothing would happen unless overpopulation caused an issue in their survival. Then they would die off until the population stabilized.

They'd probably die from lack of food, if they hadn't migrated to where the food is plentiful.

First they would eat everything, then they would slowly starve to death til nature was brought back in balance.

You'll find your answer if you research the explosion in the snow goose population which happened 20 or so years ago. They destroyed large tracts of habitat. It brought about liberal hunting opportunities which only slightly helped. Local natives were hired to stomp nests to help curb the explosion. Starvation and illness were the main concern. In a fragile environment such as that the effects could have been devastating
