How do I simplify (or solve or whatever, not sure) this equation?

The equation is 'x^5 times x^-3' We did an inadequate lesson on negative exponents and other stuff (which I didn't even get) and none of the notes cover this. My grade's bad enough in Algebra, lend a hand anyone?

Add exponents: +5+(-3)=2 (x squared)
