To remove an old decal from the back window of your car you would need to mix a generous amount of soap with water. Soak a sponge with the mixture and let it soak on the decal. Next you will let it dry about 5 minutes and then re-soak the decal again. At this point you should see the edges of the decal starting to lift and you can take a spatula and help to scrap it off. http://www.doityourself.com/stry/removing-decals-without-damaging-rear-window-defroster-lines

WD40 and razor blade scraper will likely be the easiest with no threat to paint or trim

I didn't read your answer until after I posted mine. That's what I said to use. That stuff is awesome. I've been using it for about 10 years. It also works great on clothes with tuff stains. I had a shirt with cooking grease on it (had been on it for about a year) someone told me about Goo Gone, so I got it & treated the stain with it. Nothing else even made the stain fade, but Goo Gone got it out completely. When I got new dishes I found some Goo Gone that actually had a scraper attached & got all stickers off pretty fast. I tell everybody about that stuff cause it works better than anything iv ever seen or used.

Goo Gone works awesome. All you do is put some on a rag & rub or put some on the window & use a scraper & it comes off instantly. It works on stickers & tape & decals that are on pretty much any surface. They actually make one of their bottles with a scraper attached. Goo Gone is made just for that & getting tuff stains out of clothes, upholstery, carpet, & fabrics. It's awesome stuff. You can get it at walmart, big chain grocery stores, & places like Lowe's & Home Depot.
