What do people mean when they say the vampire in Twilight "sparkles"?

Never watched Twilight, and don't want to have to. Can someone just explain what the "sparkles" are about.

They don't burn up in the sun like they should. They sparkle.

In the sunlight, Edward's skin has a glow, a kind of metallic shimmer.

According to the book, vampires get really shiny and sparkly when they are in sunlight.

Never sen the films, nor do I want to, but in the books vampires shine and sparkle in the sun basically, sorry I can't define it any more than that but Stephanie Meyer isn't the best author and she doesn't give much to go on by way of explanations.

In the books the author describes a vampire to "gleam" or "sparkle" in the sunlight rather than burn to an ash. I can't find the direct quote but the vampires in the book "reflect" the sunlight. The movies took away the interesting part of it by making it look stupid.

It's really weird. When they go in the sunlight, the vampires glitter like they were dumped in a pit of rhinestones.

It is because Edward LOVES glitter and has all of this glittery t-shirt that says I <3 Bella, but she is fat. Anyways the glitter got into his skin and his skin grew over it. That is why. AND I AM BEING LEGIT!!!!!!!

In the first twilight if you've seen it it shows him taking Bella cuz he's all you have to see wat I look lik in the sun Nd she's acting her stupid self as always and then he in buttons his shirt and shows her and she says somethin and he was lik umm I think he said this is wat I am and then she's lik ur beautiful and he chuckles and was lik beautiful..? This is the skin of a killer Bella (cuz when he showed her his skin was all BA BAM!! instant sparkle :P )
