A friend of ours went on a trip to Las Vegas and when he got back, his credit card company told him they had caught someone trying to use his credit card information. They said the criminal got the information from the gas station gas pump, by attaching a type of credit card scanner to the card swipe. It seems there are lots of ways to get credit card information, you really have to pay attention these days.
I don't know how since there are so many ways now, but look for clues, you may be able to figure it out. Here's what I do know. When you report this to your credit card company they will remove the charge(s), cancel that card, and send you a new one. They do their own investigation, but I don't think they'll reveal the who and how to you. Bummer.
It is possible because there are several ways one can steal your credit card information without trace. The first method is installing cameras or skimmers in an ATM machine, which gets your pin. One later uses fake a card to gain access to your account. Another method is through mail. It is advisable to contact your credit card provider for security measures.
