Talk about your family, brothers, sisters, mom and dad..surely there's a lot of time that he missed, a lot of people that you guys can talk about that he hasn't been able to keep up with. Good luck!

Try talking about what plans he has. Has he thought about going to school, has he talked to any old friends and what are they up to. Talk about the food, or maybe a special recipe your family makes that he missed and that maybe you can cook together.

Find common ground. Find out what he likes and work from there

I am glad you and brother will get together. Tell him first that you love him and you hope you 2 can have a nice relationship and that you will see him more often.
Ask him if he learned any special trades in jail and what he plans to do with the rest of his life. Tell him you have confidence in him and that you will be there for him.
You then can tell him what you have been learning in school and what your favorite subjects are.
Just be yourself and let him talk once you feel he wants to., Let it just flow naturally. God bless..

Ask him about himself and what he wants to do with his life. Try not to be negative. Ask him what he wants to do when he gets out. What does he regret? What have you learned from your experience. What advice would you give me? Just because he's in jail, doesn't mean he doesn't have some good advice. Tell him about your life. School, boyfriend, family life, and anything else you would discuss with a friend. Try to just keep it natural, and it might not be so hard.

I can't tell you what to talk about, but I can tell you not to bring up prison, unless he wants to discuss it first.

oh..oopps...it's what I mentioned. But, I hear people find God in jail/prison and their life was changed. So, good things can come out of it. What do you think of my suggestions? Bad? Have you been?

Even though jail was probably not fun, you can always ask him some questions what it was like for him. Such as, did he get to have some kind of job? How was the food? Did he make any friends? Did he go to church? What will he miss from jail. And, of course, talk about your life and what you've been up to the past 6 years. I'm sure he'd like to hear about it. ;) Good luck!

I've spent a little time in jail for a few missteps I've made when I was younger and foolish. If it's anything he wants to talk about, he'll bring it up. Your advice had the best of intentions:)

I read some above comments, it sounds like he did find Jesus in jail, mercedies? Something good most likely came out of it. ;) It's okay to talk..

RedRose

start with the easy things-music, tv, movies. tell him about your school and friends. its been a while, theres a lot you can catch up on. (were you talking while he was in prison?) you can get more comfortable with each other, and then ask him about life in prison, what he did, what the people were like, etc. You can also talk about what you both want to do in the future. good luck!
