Why do you believe GOD is Real or Fake?

What is your opinion it would be amazing to stand with out a doubt on your faith in what you clam to be true!

Report as
Phlorence_602

I believe God is real because.
I've felt him. I've talked to him.
He listens to me. He has showed me who he is, and what he's capable of doing.
He is there whenever I need him.
He's the creator of the universe, and everything in it.
I believe he exists, I live for him.

I do not believe in the Christian "God". The proof that believers claim, is the bible, which isn't "proof" at all.
I would like to believe that there is more to life than there is. A higher power so to speak. But this is just a dream.
There is no proof of any God. The only proof we have, is where we end up when we die, and that's in the ground rotting.

Thank you for your comment...Just a question if the people who believe in God were right after you die it would be to late for you doesn't that worry you any?
Report as
If they are wrong, did they not squander untold hours of effort worshipping nothing?
Report as
No it doesn't worry me any.
Report as
The idea that everything stops after you die would take more faith then it would to think you never die only your body does. TheZ..it wouldn't be a waste because if they would be wrong why would it be so wrong to want life?
Report as
There is so much evidence out there that God is real. I'm not at all trying to make you believe Id rather you do it on your own but unless you already tried this forget what you have been told come at it with a open point of view think of everything all the life there is every part of creation you can think of and put it all together out of nothing... It is impossible you need something there life was created. Faith on everything was created from Nothing or God.

You are asking for a fight on this one...just an fyi. I choose to call him a higher power, and I believe he is real because our universe consists of order, not ciaos, and I do not think that would happen with out someone at the helm.,

Helpful (2) Fun (1) Thanks for voting Comments (11)
Report as
There is plenty of chaos in the universe, and where order exists it is because it is stable according to the laws of physics.
Report as
That were created by God, and the universe is all order. Cause and effect also created by God
Report as
There is zero evidence of any of that. A logical person doesn't default to magic when they don't understand something.
Report as
I never said anything about magic. The universe exists. It had to come from somewhere. Things do not just appear out of nothing. That is proof enough that there is a creator. If you are foolish enough not to believe that, that is your choice.
Report as
No, you don't understand physics so you claim it must be a god.

The universe came from the rapid expansion and cooling of the singularity, caused by quantum fluctuation. You theists are the ones claiming your "god" made everything from nothing. You just said that "things do not just appear out of nothing", yet that is what you claim your god did! Of course, quantum physics also shows that isn't true anyway.

What is foolish is defaulting to mythical deities just because you can't comprehend science.
Report as
My point was that someone or something had to put that into action. You and I are just going to have to agree to disagree. I think you are wrong, you think I am wrong. one day we will find out who was right. Until then it is only a guess. Nothing more or less than that. You are not going to change my mind, and I am not going to change yours.
Report as
It is not a guess- science actually has evidence.
Report as
So you are telling me that YOU have accomplished something that no other scientist has? You are telling me that you have studied and learned absolutely 100 percent of everything there is to know about the universe? I doubt it. It is a guess. Nothing more. Get over it. I think you are wrong, you think I am wrong. Simple as that.
Report as
I didn't say absolutely everything was known. But science works by evidence- you don't. You try to fill in the gaps in your knowledge with superstition and magic.
Report as
You have been lied to science can not do anything other than make a theory of how the world came to be but that is all based on false truth and gaps. They try to put it all together and they can not so that is why it is a theory there is so much information that is missing. I think science might be coming around though they did research and found the only way everything could of ended the way it did was by a creator awesome! Again everything with science is only a theory so point being there is way to much evidence pointing to God it takes more faith to believe in a big bang from nothing then it does from GOD!
Report as
I am an actual scientist- sorry, but you've been lied to. Science, as it has progressed, just shows more and more that no creator is necessary.

You don't have a shred of evidence for your god or any other.

I believe god is real, because when I wasn't sure I prayed and asked that very question to god and throughout my life I've received the answer of yes, by experiences I've gone through, both physically and spiritually, I never thought I could be so moved by such a divine spirit, yes god is very real, so now that I know, I watch what I say and do more closely, oh and to define the character of god, god is love, and all who love are of god,oh and god is a comforting spirit, if you don't believe me, when tragedy happens in your life do not try to understand why? Just open your heart and talk to god in solitude, and ask for comfort from your pain, when your spirit cries out, you will feel gods spirit mending your heart, then a great peace will come over you.

I believe In God and just because I cannot see him doesn't mean he don't exist. I cannot come to reason that man came to exist out of thin air. Poof and there came to be life. Life was created by a higher power and it was God Almighty that had a hand in it. I believe in the word of God and not of man

Helpful (2) Fun (1) Thanks for voting Comments (13)
Report as
So you are the one saying "poof"- you just think a magic deity was the one that created everything from nothing.
Report as
God has no beginning and has no end. He's the intelligent creator. If not then how do you explain creation from nothing?
Report as
You claim creation from nothing. Science does not. And you just create a Special Pleading fallacy when you claim your god is eternal but the energy for the universe can't be...just because, apparently.

You still posit the Argument from Ifnorance- you don't know or understand, therefore god. This is the primitive thinking of early man, who didn't understand where lightning came from and therefore thought it HAD to be the wrath of the gods.
Report as
Ok kitten since I'm so ignorant in my beliefs you tell me what you believe how man came to exist. You say science? How so? Give me a simple explanation of how we all came to exist and I'll let you know if you're explanation sounds rediculous to me since you're quik to pass scrutiny in our beliefs. You know kitten I am curious about what you believe in but in the end I'm not going to change what I believe in
Report as
Since you can't even spell "ridiculous" ignorance is a good call here.

Mankind evolved, we have mountains of evidence to that fact. Denial of basic science in favor of magic is primitive thinking.
Report as
Wait a second kitten. Do you have to really go there with the name calling?Ok so maybe I didn't get a spelling bee trophy for my spelling but you did understand what I tried to spell right? I like to talk to everyone here no matter what they have to say or believe in but I don't want to resort to name calling because I'm better than that and this forum is supposed to be fun. I will not call you names kitten but take a look back at the last comment before this one and see that there's a couple words you didn't spell right. It's not cool kitten that's all I'm saying. We believe differently and i like going back an fourth with you but I don't want to do it if you're going to resort to name calling
Report as
Ignorance is not name-calling. It means "lack of knowledge on a topic". You clearly lack knowledge on the topic of science and therefore resort to filling that gap with claims of "gods".

Report as
There is so much evidence out there that we were created science even stands by a higher power amazing!
Report as
No it doesn't, and no there isn't. I'm a biologist, and there is no evidence we were created at all. Science is the study of the natural world- there is no indication of supernatural happenings at all. Life works just fine without magic.
Report as
Yes there is.
Report as
No, sorry there is not. You cannot provide any, or you would have.
Report as
There is a lot Id be more than happy to explain. I don't think you would even open up to the chance you are wrong. I don't list because you cant change people point of view if they are set in stone and I don't want to Id much rather you and the people who don't see to find out on your own.
Report as
I'm a scientist, dear. I think I know quite a bit more on this subject than you. And I've never seen a single claim of evidence for gods that wasn't misinformation or a logical fallacy.

There IS a higher power and being who has created everything. And the proof is that nobody can think of something having come into existence out of nothing.

Helpful (1) Fun (1) Thanks for voting Comments (12)
Report as
Theists are the ones who claim their god made everything out of nothing. Science does not say this.

Also, how is your lack of understanding of the origin of the universe evidence for magical deities?
Report as
Science has prove n that the universe shouldn't even be here so there conclusion was there has to be a higher power amazing the funny thing is they still couldn't believe they had come to that conclusion and were trying to put something else in to make the universe come to be with out God and they couldn't lol
Report as
Please let me know what science says. (And I don't believe that science is wrong. Real and proved science is right)
Report as
No, science has not proven any such thing about the universe. I don't know where you get your information but scientists like myself have never concluded any "higher power" is necessary in the universe. Quite the opposite in fact.

The most prominent physicists of our time, such as Stephen Hawking, Lawrence Krauss, and Neil deGrasse Tyson are all quite explicit in their statements that no intervention is necessary for this universe. In fact, Krauss' book "A Universe from Nothing" details that the universe's structure makes it not only unnecessary but highly unlikely.
Report as
Again I should say that if we think of absolute nothingness, how is the universe to come into existence?
God is too explicit to be proven. We are just running away from Him.
Report as
That makes zero sense. You can't provide even a shred of evidence your god or any other exists.

And physics indicates there is no such thing as absolute nothingness. The energy for the universe shows every indication of being "eternal", though time is also a construct of this universe.
Report as
OK, let's say there's no absolute nothingness. Where are all these things from? Their origin?
Report as
This universe originated with the singularity. Current research in experimental physics is fleshing out what we know about the earliest moments of the universe as we speak- you have probably heard of the recent confirmations of the Higgs Boson.

Beyond the expansion of the singularity (there technically is no "before" since time is a construct if this universe), we don't know yet. That doesn't mean that we never will or that the answer must be magic gods. That's the same thing primitive men said about lightning and earthquakes, but we know better now. Inserting "god" for the gaps in your knowledge is not only illogical, but makes you look foolish and your "god" grow smaller with every scientific advancement.
Report as
You just don't want to think o the question, where is that singularity from?
Report as
Could you continue it endlessly?
Report as
It is likely that the energy for the universe is eternal, yes.

And you still miss my point- the Argument from Ignorance is a fallacy for a reason. Just because you don't know how something works does not make the answer magic gods. If we all thought like you, humankind would still be living in caves, because none of us would have ever sought out the ACTUAL causes of phenomenon but instead defaulted to "Goddidit".
Report as
I believe in your point, but my point, as YOU get it, could be a shortcut to God, that is, oftentimes we may have difficulty/ be wrong in construing something as God. Even in your way of thinking, at last we reach a cause of the causes. This is logic.
As for energy, we don't yet have a definite definition for it. If it's the cause of the causes, it must be alive and conscious. No alternative.

Although highly unlikely NO ONE CAN KNOW FOR SURE, which is why it upsets me when people try to control others by placing phony beliefs upon them in an effort to gain power themselves. Would you listen to me if I said that not doing so would cause you an eternity of suffering and despair? And what if I said that my demands were mandated by some superior being who could certainly make that happen? What if you were poor and didn't know of religion or science as I told you this? Then I'll tell you poor people go to heaven, and that staying poor to keep me rich is a good thing.
If you have to be faithful to God,
then you must have Faith,
a belief in something with no proper evidence.
That way you can avoid questions like why or how.
If faith is unknowing, then the less you know the more FAITHFUL you are.
Therefore, the only evidence of God is that many people believe in God,
without evidence.

I could continue for hours but, I rest my case.
(do not report as offensive.. I know how trollish you people get when it comes to your "God", I was only ANSWERING THE QUESTION.

1) there are 2 versions of the creation of man and the flood with Noah. This shows that the bible was written by a person trying to concatenate oral tradition and thus not divinely inspired. If you read the whole bible (which I recommend) it is obvious.
2)To an ant YOU are a supreme being. Do you care what ants do?
3)If you find a book that says unicorns are real, and you find people who believe unicorns are real, does that automatically make unicorns real?
4)What action have you EVER taken in life that is not based on statistical experience or evidence. Think about this. Now someone says that you should believe in a supreme being without evidence of its existence. Should you?
5)If there was one true god, why do ALL religions claim that their version is the ONLY correct version?
6)If miracles exist, why don't we have medical documentation of an amputee growing a new limb? It happens for cancer, eyesight, spinal issues etc. right? Or does it really?
7)If god where to answer prayers, what is the point of working towards success? Why not just pray your way to a medical degree or master electrician or to cure a tooth ache or get your mail early?

We know that God is real because He has revealed Himself to us in three ways: in creation, in His Word, and in His Son, Jesus Christ.
.... there will always be skeptics who have their own ideas concerning God and will read the evidence accordingly. And there will be some whom no amount of proof will convince (Psalm 14:1). It all comes down to faith (Hebrews 11:6).

There is no good evidence any gods exist, and much evidence that current religions evolved from older mythologies, which in turn were created to explain those things which early man could not.

The sad part is that so many people are still stuck in the primitive "I don't get it therefore it must be a god" mentality.

Thank you for your comment! I really don't know what your faith is but from your statements I read it seems as if you believe we evolved into life so Question are you worried at all what will happen to you when you die?
Report as
Well, evolution isn't a belief since it's backed by a mountain of hard scientific evidence. It has nothing to do with religion- most theists accept evolution as well.

I am not worried about death. Everything dies, that is just the nature of life. Since our consciousness ceases when brain function ceases it's not like I'll care- what happens "after death" is pretty much what happened before birth- there is no "me".
Report as
Evolution has never ever been completely proven. That is why it is called THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION. It is not a proven fact.
Report as
Theories EXPLAIN facts in science, dear. There is nothing above a theory. Gravity is a theory. The heliocentric model of the universe is a theory.

Evolution can be directly observed, and has more hard evidence than gravity does. It is both a theory and a fact.

You might want to actually learn the basics of science before you comment on it lest you look foolish.
Report as
Skeptikitten... I was wondering where was the hard evidence found and what was it to prove evolution?
Report as
The entire last 150 years of biology, in every field from microbiology to genetics. The fact that we can observe it directly.

You'll have to be more specific- there is far too large of a body of evidence to summarize in just 1200 characters, and evolution is the central theme of biology so it encompasses a vast array of fields.
Report as
Um If you know... If we evolved we should still be changing there is no evidence... The monkey theory... The fish theory... How did water get on earth...
