You cannot compare social work and psychology because they are worlds apart and again because what is best varies from one person to the other. But, if you look at it from the financial aspect, then psychology carries the day any time; psychologists make a lot more than social workers.
Psychologist - you make more money, have more control of your career, and have many specialties to choose from. And social work is harder on the heart. Now, this is just my opinion, both careers help people and have pros and cons.

Social Worker is not a job actually. It is a work , no regular income if you initiate a work and start organization. You can earn if you start working with some well established organization or NGO. My dad has his own NGO and runs it, so i know things about this. I would suggest this, study psychology and get a job. With your job, you can be part-time working with some organization. You can become a volunteer, or handle some kind of organization's work which you can handle from home, like managing organization's internet accounts, advertising it and similar things. This way, you will earn also, and also working for some cause. I hope it helped. :-)
