The more we have to depend on Foreign oil , we'll always be stuck paying what they want for it ! If we could get Domestic oil production up and going , we wouldn't be dependant on them anymore and prices would go down to where they should be !

what a load of ......... no offense implied but we have plenty of oil production, what we don't have is enough gasoline refining capacity. The oil tanks here in Cushing OK are overflowing. The gas refineries on the Gulf Coast however are running at full capacity with no reserve.

capcon : Then you know so much , why the hell aren't we using it ! The refineries here are going full bore !
Report as
Gas prices will only go down when the supply of refined gasoline products exceeds the demand for same. The supply will only meet demand if demand falls off or more refining capacity is brought on line. Refining capacity is not the same as oil production, drilling, or exploration. We are awash in oil but the cost prohibitiveness of building new gas refineries due to onerous EPA regulations precludes the construction of new refining capacity. Oil we have, refined oil products like gas we do not, at least in quantities that would even out the supply and demand ratio.

You touched on it capcon. It's the "green" movement environmental laws etc. We could produce more oil if the Government would get out of the way. The prices are affected by supply and demand but that is being manipulated. Politics and greed have a lot to do with it.

Because the value of a dollar has gone down, it's not just gas.

Cause the Arabs know we won't drill on our soil, cause Obama's scared, so they can do whatever they want with oil prices, cause America is addicted to oil.

Another load of partisan crap. The price of oil is based in large part on the value of the dollar. The price of gasoline however is in large part based on supply and demand and the lack of refining capacity, not the lack of oil.

Because they are changing the content of gas for the season change.
Also less production in the US, higher demand abroad.

Because you cannot function without it, and so many need it the manufacturer falls back on the old "supply and demand" excuse to set prices.
