How do you take care of a misdemeanor warrant without going to jail

Depends on the misdemeanor, but they might want to take you into custody. At the same time, it might not be worth it depending on how over crowded the jails are and what the misdemeanor charge is. You should probably contact a lawyer who would contact the police or DA's office about turning yourself in and maybe being out on your own recognizance.

call in to the jail, and schedule a court date.

You have to go to jail, that's how they process the warrant. Depending on what the warrant is for, your job status and ties to the community, most likely you will get a court date and OR'd out in a few hours.
